Puja can be celebrated by an individual person or in gatherings. The ceremony may be done in silence or accompanied by prayers. Sometimes a puja is done for the benefit of certain people, for whom people ask blessings.

Pooja Samagri

Paan (Bettle leaf), Supari (Bettle Nut), Kumkum (Vermillion), Chaval (Rice), Moli (Pink n Yellow Thread), Gur, Agarbatti (Incence Stick), Nariyal (Coconut), Flowers, Dhruv depart, Dipak, Ghee, Bhog

( Laddo and Modak) and Panchamrit (milk,curd,honey,ghee,rose water).

Steps of a Puja

Each and every sect, family or an individual have their own way of doing Puja. Every time when you say ”samarpayami” (I m offering), offer two akshatha(Rice) with love and devotion to the lord.

Following steps:

Dhyaanam Samarpayami

Mediate the God i.e Ganesha.:

vakratunda mahaakaaya soorya koti samaprabha
nirvighnam kuru mein deva sarva kaaryashu sarvadaa

Aawaahanam Samarpayami

Invite God to ur place.

Aasanam Samarpayami

First preserve Ganeshji’s Murti at a higher platform.

Paadyam Samarpayami

Wash Feets of God.

Arghyam Samarpayami

Wash hands of God.

Aachamaneeyam Samarpayami

Offer water to drink to God.

Snaanam Samarpayami

Then give bath to it through the Panchamrit.

Maha Abhishekam Samarpayami

Offer Head bath to God.

Pratishtaapayaami

Offer him Seat.

Vasthram Samarpayami

Offer clothes to God.

Yajnopaveetham Samarpayami

Offer holy thread to God.

Gandham Samarpayami

Offer Sandalwood paste or powder.

Offer Akshatha/ Rice
